Glenys Evans

Glenys Evans is a typeface created for my final MA project, which was inspired by my family’s Welsh heritage. The aesthetics reflect the rugged landscape of Wales, conveyed through roughened curves and asymmetry. The typeface is also infused with calligraphic strokes and Celtic themes, subtly alluding to Wales’ history and mythology. It is crafted and tested for legibility during immersive reading in both screen and print-based media. This workhorse typeface also functions well at headline sizes, where its stylistic influences are clearly visible.

Glenys Evans is currently completed in a single regular weight, and it is the blueprint for ongoing expansion of the family of weights and styles in preparation for commercial release, including bold and italic. Support for further languages is also being added for greater inclusivity.
